Start of second funding period LiSyM-Cancer
As of July 1st 2024 the second funding period of the research network LiSyM-Cancer started.
The BMBF is funding LiSyM-Krebs with a total of 14.6 million euros for a further 3 years. The research network brings together partners from 21 different academic institutions across Germany. While the main structure – the three consortia SMART-NAFLD, C-TIP-HCC and DEEP-HCC as well as the program and data management – and the main topic “Early detection and prevention of liver cancer” remain the same, the focus of the research will be on clinical translation. The researchers aim to identify signatures for liver diseases that can be used as risk scores in diagnostic procedures. The network of biologists, clinicians, modelers and data managers will now be supported by a pathologist for standardized analysis of imaging, a medical devise regulation expert as well as an AI expert. The development of decision support systems is a joint aim of all partners, and we will inform the public on their progress within the next three years on this website.
